MY WORKS

ABOUT ME
Architecture was appealing, but it was never going to be for me. The only reason I had my sights set on it in the first place was because I was convinced that it was the most creative field I could get into. But that confidence was shaken once I moved to Richmond from my quaint hometown of Mathews County. Learning about the community around the advertising industry and the work involved left me intrigued, and when it came time to decide on a career I knew creative advertising, and more specifically art directing, was the way to go.
Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in creative advertising has led me to nurture creativity while honing my social and professional skills. In my time at VCU I’ve been able to cultivate my abilities in the Adobe suite of programs, allowing me to execute whatever I can think up. But teamwork lets ideas really flourish; I value collaboration and am eager to engage in it when the opportunity arises. I’m open to taking a backseat and trusting in my peers when they need support, yet remain ready to defend my ideas and take charge when needed. Beyond just classes, multiple years of experience in the retail and customer service fields have taught me how to engage with the public in an affable and respectful manner, as well as handle tricky social scenarios. I
’ve yet to find any work that is as rewarding as advertising. It appeals to my interests in pop culture and creating my own work, and as a result I am more engaged in this field than any I’ve tried before. It’s a perfect blend of objective-based and open-ended tasks that allow for my personality to shine through. I’m grateful to have found a field that allows and encourages me to pull from my love of movies, music, and anything weird and quirky to make campaigns that truly resonate with people. I can’t wait to continue my journey further into this field and prove myself as a worthy art director.
